BLAGAR! (Black Agar) Powder

BLAGAR!! (You have to say it like a pirate!) Black agar is the same receipt as the Light Malt Extract Agar, but with Hardwood Activated Charcoal Powder. It's great to see that contrast with the mycelium.
 
The activated charcoal powder is made in the USA, with 100% hardwood trees, sustainably grown in the eastern United States.
 
One package of BLAGAR powder is added to a jar with 500ml of water. Stir until powder is dissolved. Pressure sterilized for 15-20 minutes at 15psi.
Note: Some visible specks in the agar is normal.
 
This should make approximately 60-80 cups or 40-60 petri dishes. (Depending on the thickness of your pouring.)
 
(I personally like to use condiment cups as a petri dish. They are cheap, easy to use, and sterile right out of the package.)
